"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain

Hi Folks,

We had the first ride of 2005 today, the February ride. Beautiful weather fo rthis time of year in Scotland, althoug it was a little cold sitting outside, in the ppub conservatory, it was lovely and warm. Hopefully March will be as nice, destination will be emailed nearer the time.

What a difference from January, where the snowy weather meant the ride was cancelled. Not all was lost, we still enjoyed festive fare and coffee.

One of the best rides of 2004 was the May ride, when we went to West Linton. A bit breezy on the way out, especially as it was mostly uphill. It started sunny, but very quickly clouded over. The Hotel was our stopping point. From there, a small hill took us up on to the Roman road and a close encounter with the Icelandic Ponies takin us to Carlops and a fast ride home. Anyway, here's a nice pic of the people who made it up the hill from the Hotel after lunch.

In April 2004, we visited Fife, a wonderful trip to Aberdour Castle. This involves crossing the Forth Road Bridge. Some people might prefer Car or Train, but then you'd miss out on views like this one. Proof that you only have to look. I really enjoy that run.

In March 2004, we returned to Mid-Calder, a short trip detailed in the 2004 section under News.

In February, we went to East Lothian, up one hill, and then some water cycling along the Pencaitland path. Remember to contact East Lothian council to complain about the state of the Pencaitland Railway Path.

Photo of the First and Second Prize winners from September 2003 seems to have been lost, It's somewhere on my PC. So here's the proud Boobie Prize winner, doesn't he look happy!!!:

Hopefully we'll have a good summer, but hopefully I'll not break my leg.

There is a meal planned, I'VE NOT GOT THE DETAILS!!!! MIKE? I think the date is the 23rd April. The one we had last year was good fun

The other sections on the website will be updated soon. I'm sure Neil said someone was planning a weekend trip. contact him for further info. One advantage of weekend trips is that you get to meet the locals. Here's one spotted by Neil:

Heilan Coo was not impressed by the visitors.

This next photo was taken from the Roman Road looking towards the peaks just the north of Carlops. So from Right to Left (sorry, it was easier to read the map that way). The highest peak you can see is the furthest right is South Black Hill at 563 m above sea level, Scald Hill is behind that, but not visible. In from Scald Hill are East Kip (534m), West  Kip (551m). The small, low peak is Cap Law (497m), then to it’s left is Patie’s Hill at just over 500 m and to it’s left is Spittal Hill at 526m.

This is all about Cycling, Skiing and Nature in Scotland. Apart from the picture below where I enjoy skiing in Austria. About having a fun time.

This picture is the toboggan run / ski road that takes to the top of Nasserein in St. Anton. Branch off run 24.

Thanks for the feedback I've been getting on the site. Main thing is the the way the menu structure works. I have an idea of how to improve it without affecting the look of the site.

We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to help.

"It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.

Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle."

- Ernest Hemingway]
